SITA Environmental Trust

SITA Environmental Trust (SET) is a not-for-profit body established to distribute funds generated by the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme to approved community and environmental improvement projects.

The Trust was formed in 1997 by SITA. As the UK's foremost waste services company, SITA is committed to environmental improvement through its daily activities. The Landfill Tax Credit Scheme is one of the company's opportunities to give something lasting back to the communities it serves.

In 2002 SITA Environmental Trust, with additional financial support from Northamptonshire Partnership, awarded the then University College Northampton over £1.5 million. This money is to enhance the University's reputation as a Centre of Excellence for wastes management. It represents a five-year plan of education, training, research and community projects
